101 Basic Chaplaincy Training: 14 hours
This course is designed to acclimate the student to the world of chaplaincy as it relates to local and state opportunities. The course covers essential legal, ethical, spiritual, and humanitarian requirements for serving as a chaplain. [Transferrable trainings: International Fellowship of Chaplains (IFOC.org) and The International Alliance of Chaplain Corps (IAOCC.org). Other training agencies and/or accumulative experience are taken into consideration.] COST for this course is $75, $50 for accepted applicants. Scholarships may be available.
102 Counseling Tools for the Lay-Minister or Chaplain: 8 hours
This course includes an introductory education toward using tools for:
Marriage and individual enrichment Interventions, understanding & applying the KLLP (Kendal Life Languages Profile), experiencing the unshakable Christian identity, Self-Care—keys to avoiding disqualification, and more… COST for this course is $25. Scholarships may be available.
103 Critical Incident Stress Management Basic Group Intervention (ICISF): 14 hours
This program is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of, and a specific protocol for, individual intervention and increase Emergency Mental Health skills. The course prepares participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services including pre and post incident crisis education, significant other support services, on-scene support services, crisis intervention for individuals, demobilizations after group large scale traumatic incidents, small group defusings and the group intervention known as Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). The “Group Crisis Intervention” course specifically prepares participants to provide several of these interventions – specifically demobilizations, defusings and the CISD. The need for appropriate follow up services and referrals when necessary is also described. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to: Define stress, CIS, and PTSD; List the 10 basic interventions of CISM; and Define and describe in detail the CISM group processes of Demobilizations, Defusings and Debriefings; List at least four fundamental principles of crisis intervention; Describe common psychiatric symptoms after trauma; Demonstrate crisis communication techniques; and List risk factors for suicide. 104 Suicide Prevention, Intervention, and Postvention (ICISF): 14 hours
This training will provide the basic information about suicide as well as help develop practical skills for prevention, intervention and postvention. Small group role plays will allow the student to apply the suggested techniques as he/she learns them. This training is open to anyone who wishes to learn more about intervening across the suicide spectrum. Professionals from the fields of emergency services, security, human resources, EAP, education, and mental health may all benefit. COST for this course ranges from $85-$300. We will endeavor to provide this course for $85. Scholarships may be available.
105 C.E.R.T. Community Emergency Response Training: 24 hours
Training includes these topics: DISASTER PREPAREDNESS, DISASTER FIRE SUPPRESSION, DISASTER MEDICAL OPERATIONS PART I, DISASTER MEDICAL OPERATIONS, PART II, LIGHT SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS, DISASTER PSYCHOLOGY AND TEAM ORGANIZATION, COURSE REVIEW AND DISASTER SIMULATION. There is NO COST for this course.
106 CPR Adult/Child/Infant CPR, Basic First Aid & AED: 10 hours
Online courses must be completed within 14 days of your online registration. This web-based course teaches American Red Cross CPR for adults, children (ages 1-12) and infants (under age 1); Basic First Aid; and AED. Students will learn how to recognize and respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in the CPR portion of the online course. Basic First Aid will teach students how to respond to other emergencies caused by injury or sudden illness. And, AED Essentials teaches students when and how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator). To earn CPR and Basic First Aid certification, students must pass the online test and then attend a skill session to perform and review skills. To earn AED certification, students must have current CPR certification, pass the online AED Essentials test and attend a skill session to perform and review skills. CPR certification is valid for 1 year. Basic First Aid certification is valid for 3 years. AED certification is valid for 1 year. You have 14 days from registration to complete the online portion of this course. Skill sessions must be done in person within 30 days of your course completion date. You will receive your certificate when you complete the skill session. COST for this course is $59. Feel free to find this course less expensive elsewhere.
107 FEMA NIMS Online Training: 8 hours
The NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable Federal, State, tribal, and local governments, the private sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together to prepare for, prevent, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the effects of incidents, regardless of cause, size, location, or complexity, in order to reduce the loss of life, property, and harm to the environment. This consistency provides the foundation for utilization of NIMS for all incidents, ranging from daily occurrences to incidents requiring coordinated Federal response. Required online courses are ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, ICS-800. These courses can be taken at the student’s convenience. There is NO COST for these courses.
108 Placement: 40 hours
Placement starts at the very beginning of the program and will last for a minimum of one (1) year. It will be required of the student to participate in a humanitarian relief program during the education period. A minimum of 40 hours of volunteer chaplain-in-training experience is required for ordination. Transferable experience is considered. There is NO COST for placement.
